Singapore's Mandatory Climate Reporting: SRAC's Key Recommendations Explained
Mandatory climate-related disclosures (CRD) are coming to Singapore. In Episode 7 of GreenCo's Singapore Green Plan series, we break down the key recommendations of the Sustainability Reporting Advisory Committee (SRAC), published in 2023, and what they mean for when, and for whom, climate reporting becomes mandatory.
Key Themes of SRAC's Recommendations
- Mandatory climate-related disclosures aligned with the ISSB Standards for listed companies
- Extending climate reporting to large non-listed companies
- Phased reporting of greenhouse gas emissions, starting with Scope 1 and Scope 2
- External limited assurance of Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions
- A staggered timeline so companies have time to build their capabilities
Timeline Update (August 2025)
ACRA and SGX RegCo have since extended the timelines for most climate reporting and assurance requirements. Companies in the Straits Times Index continue to report from FY2025, while other listed companies and large non-listed companies now have more time. For some non-STI listed companies, Scope 3 emissions reporting is voluntary until further notice. Starting early is still the best way to stay ahead. See GreenCo's climate disclosure advisory.
