HKEX ESG Reporting and Climate Disclosure Services (Appendix C2)

Under the HKEX Listing Rules, every listed issuer must publish an ESG report each year covering the same period as its annual report. Since 1 January 2025, the HKEX ESG Reporting Code (Appendix C2) has also included new climate-related disclosure requirements aligned with IFRS S2. GreenCo is a professional ESG advisory firm that helps Hong Kong-listed companies prepare compliant, investor-ready ESG reports and meet the new climate requirements.

HKEX Climate Disclosure Requirements at a Glance

  • Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions – mandatory for all listed issuers for financial years commencing on or after 1 January 2025.
  • Other Part D climate disclosures, including Scope 3 – "comply or explain" for Main Board issuers from 1 January 2025.
  • LargeCap issuers (Hang Seng Composite LargeCap Index constituents) – full Part D climate disclosures become mandatory for financial years commencing on or after 1 January 2026.
  • The four IFRS S2 pillars – governance, strategy (including climate scenario analysis and transition planning), risk management, and metrics and targets.

These requirements are a step on Hong Kong's roadmap towards full ISSB-aligned sustainability reporting under the Hong Kong Sustainability Disclosure Standards (HKFRS S1 and HKFRS S2), so issuers that build robust processes now will be better prepared for what comes next.
